Archie Driver

Archie Driver was a long standing supporter and president of the band who sadly passed away in April 2006.

After the war he joined British Airways (then BEA) as an engineer, first at Renfrew Airport and latterly at Abottsinch. His interest in politics developed in the post-war years when he joined the Labour party and served as a councillor in Renfrew for a generation, being the last provost of the royal burgh before the reorganisation of local government in 1973. Thereafter he served a term as vice-provost of Renfrew district, presiding over a dinner for the pro-am golf tournament in Renfrew attended by Telly Savalas and other celebrities.

Archie supported the band during his time as a councillor and always found time to act on their behalf.  This support continued after his council days had ended and his contribution to the banding world is certainly missed.

One of Archie's last duties to the banding world was to present awards at the Scottish Championships 2006.
