Farewells and festive fun at Christmas concert

ree

We recently enjoyed a lovely afternoon at our Christmas concert in Neilston Parish Church - joined by a super audience!

Renfrew Burgh Band has been coming to Neilston around the festive period for more than 10 years, and it was lovely to catch up with friends old and new at the latest concert on Sunday, December 14.

The concert was also a poignant one, as we made presentations to two members following their selfless dedication to the RBB family.

Our principal cornet player, Ash Paton, has inspired on and off stage with her performances and dedication to her music making, playing a huge role in the band’s fortunes over recent years.

Regularly featured as a soloist, and picking up several awards along the way, she has also been an extremely able assistant music director.

Myra Mack has been part of the fabric of RBB for as long as we can remember (*cough, since the 1960s). During her involvement, Myra has played in several seats, always doing what was best for the band.

In recent years, Myra served as chairperson and her clear, efficient leadership ensured the organisation went from strength to strength.

In recent years, she was honoured with a SBBA Lifetime Membership Award and a Renfrewshire Provost’s Award, recognising her lengthy service.

As Ash and Myra prepare for new chapters, we thank them both and remind them there will always be a place for them at RBB.
